ConversionCow wins Silver at the 2026 BETTER FUTURE Melbourne Design Awards

Irwin Hau | Digital Industry News

ConversionCow has been awarded Silver at the 2026 BETTER FUTURE Melbourne Design Awards, with the winners announced on 6 July 2026. The platform was recognised in the Digital – New Service or Application category.

The award recognises ConversionCow as a digital product designed to solve a problem Chromatix had encountered repeatedly through years of UX and conversion work: businesses were investing in websites and generating traffic, but too many interested visitors were leaving without making an enquiry or taking the next step.

For the team at Chromatix, the Silver Award is particularly meaningful because ConversionCow did not begin as a standalone software idea.

It began inside the agency.

ConversionCow takes Silver for Digital – New Service or Application

The BETTER FUTURE Melbourne Design Awards recognise design across a broad range of disciplines, with a focus on creativity, innovation and new ways of solving real-world problems.

ConversionCow received Silver in the Digital – New Service or Application category, recognising the platform as a new digital service designed to address a clear and ongoing business need.

For ConversionCow, that need was straightforward: how can a business get more value from the website traffic it already has without rebuilding its entire website?

The answer grew out of work already happening at Chromatix.

A product born from Chromatix

In many ways, ConversionCow is a product born inside Chromatix.

After years of designing and improving websites, the Chromatix team kept seeing the same pattern. Businesses often assumed they needed more website traffic when the bigger issue was what happened after people arrived.

Visitors were reading pages, scrolling through content and showing clear signs of interest, yet many were still leaving without enquiring.

Through website analysis and conversations with clients and customers, the team found that people often needed something more before they were ready to act: clearer information, stronger proof, easier contact options or simply greater confidence in the business.

That observation became the starting point for ConversionCow.

Rather than treating every conversion problem as a reason to redesign a website, the team began exploring whether an additional layer could sit over an existing site and deliver the right information at the right moment.

From agency experiments to a standalone platform

ConversionCow was not developed from a single idea and launched overnight.

Between 2013 and 2020, the team tested more than 32 live prototypes across multiple industries to understand what helped website visitors move from interest to action.

Those tests consistently pointed back to the importance of clarity, reassurance, proof and an obvious next step.

Those learnings eventually developed into the ConversionCow platform.

Today, ConversionCow allows businesses to add targeted slide-out experiences to an existing website, giving visitors access to relevant messages, social proof, contact details, calls to action and other conversion-focused content without requiring a complete website rebuild.

Campaigns can be customised for different audiences and visitor behaviours, while features such as A/B testing, targeting and analytics give businesses greater visibility over how people are engaging with each experience.

The platform can also be installed across existing websites without requiring businesses to move to another website platform.

What started as a way for Chromatix to solve a recurring client problem gradually became a digital product capable of addressing that same problem for businesses beyond the agency.

Designing around the moment before someone converts

While ConversionCow is a technology product, the thinking behind it has always been grounded in people rather than software.

A visitor arriving on a website may already be interested in a product or service. The challenge is understanding what they still need before they feel comfortable making contact, booking, buying or enquiring.

Sometimes that means making contact information easier to find. In other cases, it means presenting a testimonial, explaining an important difference, answering an objection or providing a more relevant call to action.

ConversionCow was designed around those moments.

Instead of asking a business to send more people to its website, the platform focuses on helping more of the people already there find the information and confidence they need to act.

That focus reflects the same conversion rate optimisation approach behind much of Chromatix’s work. Website performance is not only about how a site looks or how many people visit it. It is also about how clearly the experience understands and responds to the people using it.

Growing beyond Chromatix

Although ConversionCow began with a problem identified through Chromatix, it has since developed into its own platform, brand and growing body of work.

Its roots, however, remain closely connected to the agency.

The UX thinking, conversion research and real-world client challenges encountered through Chromatix provided the conditions for the original idea to develop. ConversionCow then gave the team an opportunity to turn those learnings into a product that businesses could implement on their own websites.

The Silver Award recognises that progression, from an internal solution to a fully developed digital service recognised for its design and innovation.

It also adds to ConversionCow’s recent industry recognition, following its finalist nomination in the Digital and UX Craft category at the 2026 Mumbrella Awards.

Recognition for the team behind ConversionCow

Winning Silver at the 2026 BETTER FUTURE Melbourne Design Awards acknowledges the many stages of work that have gone into ConversionCow, from early UX research and prototypes through to product design, development, testing and ongoing refinement.

For Chromatix, it is also rewarding to see an idea that emerged from everyday agency work develop into something that can stand on its own.

ConversionCow may now have an identity and direction of its own, but the original question behind it remains familiar to anyone who has worked on a website that receives traffic without generating enough enquiries:

What do people need to see, understand or believe before they are ready to take the next step?

That question helped shape the original product and continues to guide how ConversionCow develops today.

Congratulations to everyone involved in bringing ConversionCow to life, and thank you to BETTER FUTURE for recognising the project with Silver at the 2026 Melbourne Design Awards.
